Hear It Three Times? Write It Down

This is me giving the best man speech at my brother’s wedding. You may ask, how is this relevant to business?

Well, it was the first time I had to prepare and give a serious public speech in front of a group of Exeter kids I grew up idolizing. I wove in a joke about my brother’s wife wanting to marry a JD (Jewish Doctor) but got my brother, with a Juris Doctorate instead. 😂

At the end of the speech, some friends came up to my dad and me and said “Your son is a great public speaker.” My dad replied, “Yes, he is.” That made a huge impression on me.

That was the beginning of my journey. I started writing down the feedback I heard at least 3 times and developing upon it. I didn’t fully believe in the journey at first, but I continued to explore it further. Yes, I believe it now.

Play to your strengths. Not sure what they are?
Listen for the 3 times you hear “Hey, you’re real good at…”
